It may take longer than we did to purchase your next Charlottesville Virginia home...When we moved back to Charlottesville in 1997 after a 150 year family absence, it had taken only a quick glimpse of the surrounding, bucolic, Albemarle countryside before my wife gave the nod and said: "Take me out of Manhattan and buy me a Charlottesville home immediately; this is the perfect place to raise a family!"

The Charlottesville real estate market was not as explosive as 2005 but the press was writing numerous articles about the pros of Charlottesville living ( none of which we had seen). I was on a mission to find an 18th century, Georgian, Charlottesville historic home. My wife wanted a new Charlottesville home. I had the money...she did not. I won!

We now live in a small, circa 1753, rickety Charlottesville home in Ivy. And I spend many hours a week with a hammer and ladder in hand. I fell off the roof last week and landed on the roof below. My kids thought it was hillarious; I thought it was all over!
