But before you begin the process, make sure you understand the full picture about the Charlottesville
custom build process.
There are additional costs involved, as well as additional time commitments.
I have assisted clients in the Charlottesville custom build process and even have the experience in custom
building myself.
I would be happy to answer any questions and share my experiences with you.
Just give me a call.
However, there are varying degrees of buying Charlottesville new construction.
Here are 3 general options:
-
Purchasing a Charlottesville "Spec" Home.
-
A spec house is a home that a builder begins building without a
buyer.
-
As the home progresses, the builder (or his decorator) will make the
applicable selections - flooring, cabinets, countertops, lighting, etc.
You can contract on a spec home at any point in the process, and
depending on the state of the house, you may be able to make some selections.
-
As with all new homes, builders are required to offer you a one-year
builder's warranty.
-
Purchasing a "Semi-Custom" Home.
-
A semi-custom home is a home in which you select a builder's floor plan,
make all possible selections, and possibly change the floor plan slightly.
-
This is a very popular option for someone who sees a house that they like,
but they just need to make a few changes to the make the home perfect for them.
-
They may add a bedroom, re-arrange the kitchen, add a basement, or expand
the footprint slightly.
-
This is a cost effective way to get a custom home without havint to go
through the potentially costly process of working with an architect.
-
Purchasing a "Custom" Charlottesville Home.
-
The Charlottesville custom home process is potentially the most rewarding
process since you are involved in every decision from creating the floor plan to selecting light fixtures to choosing
your wall colors.
-
However, there are also some things to be aware of: it typically is more
expensive than the other two options, it is extremely time consuming, and it is often a stressful
adventure.
-
It's obviously a lot easier to pick an existing floor plan and build it,
but if you have a strong vision of what you want, then this is a fantastic way to show your creativity and get your
dream home.
To discuss any of these options or new construction in general, please give me a call. Toby Beavers
